Fall themed Baby Shower

My daughter Megan and I hosted my younger daughters baby shower yesterday. My fourth grand baby and Jen's third is due January 30th. Another little boy, Emerson Rhys. We had so much fun planning and putting it all together. I wanted to share some pictures with you.

 Check out the diaper owl!

This arrangement was made in my great grandmothers bread bowl
I hand painted the acorn in the jar behind the apple pies and painted the mason jars.

Our menu was Bacon Jalapeno Dip baked in a pumpkin, Mini Apple Pies, Ranch Dip and Veggies, Pumpkin Crack Dip with apples, Apple Cider and of course the S'mores Bar.  So fun!

This crock pot Apple Cider was so good!

Carmel Apples

Aren't these cute?  I don't remember who originally created these but I thought they were so cute, I did them for my Team Meeting swap and then I had my Hostess club make them last month.  I filled mine with caramels. These were made with Stampin' Up!'s Curvy Box Framelit. There are tons of ideas for this little box out there.

Date Night

I was perusing Pinterest one day, (don't you love Pinterest/)and I came across an idea for date nights.  As I kept looking into this topic I found a ton of great ideas.  I decided to take an idea I found in a few different spots which was to make up a date night(or day) for every month and give this to my husband as a Christmas gift.  I am still working on my envelopes, but I started thing....we don't spend enough time together. We are together, but we don't really spend quality time together.  I know some of you know what I am talking about.  I stated planning dates for us NOW, trying to do some different and special things.  This was one evening I planned last month. I made a tent with various sheets and Mosquito netting, blankets, pillows and of course twinkle lights! It was quite a chore making the tent, but it was so fun and romantic.

We played a game where we had to highlight words in a book to make a message to each other.  Once we highlighted the word we would write the page number on a pad of paper.  When we were finished we gave the book and paper to each other and we had to go through the book and write the words from each page to decipher the message.  It was fun! And funny!

We had dinner on the back porch before walking down to the tent for the evening.

Refrigerater Oatmeal!

Have you tried this??  My daughter introduced me to this.  I am going to give you the link to the sight where I got all of my recipes. Two weeks ago I made up enough for the weeks breakfasts. I made the Raspberry Vanilla and the Mandarin Orange.

This week I made a couple of Pineapple Coconut and a Blackberry. I substituted blackberries for the raspberries and omitted the vanilla in the Raspberry Vanilla recipe.

This is different, but it is good and easy and ready for you in the morning! It has a good amount of protein and fiber. If you are doing WW the points range from 6 to 8.  Not bad for breakfast and you can always add a piece of fruit.

My healthy Lifestyle Story

My personal story.

So I told you about our family healthy lifestyle competition.  I have to tell you that I have started time and time again over the years.  I gain and lose, gain and lose.  I hope this time I can make it stick!  I hope doing this little competition with my family, supporting each other will help.

I get to the point where I really hate myself!  The way I look, the way I feel, my clothe don't fit, I have no energy....I just finally get fed up!  Do you ever get to this point?

So here I am starting all over again.

I have started going to a yoga class and I am trying to get back to walking/jogging.  When I did this a couple of years ago, I FELT SO MUCH BETTER! I was running over 4 miles a day, doing some yoga and Weight Watchers.  I had lost 17 pounds!  I still had a ways to go but I was feeling better physically, mentally, and I was starting to have more self confidence.  I ran two 5k's and did fairly decent.  Then I hurt my leg.  It was 2 years ago this past September.  I waited a while to go to the doctor and when I did I found out I had a bad Stress fracture in my thigh bone.  So.....I was out of commission until about February.  Well, needless to say, I got out of my habit, routine, the holidays came around, I quit going to WW and here I am back where I started. The weight just kept coming on gradually and before I knew it I was Miss Piggy again.

It is so easy to slide back into old habits. Life is so much easier when you don't have to work at something; when you can just stay in your comfort zone. But the fact is you do have to work at it.  If you want results, you have to put in the effort.

I am hoping that I will stay on program and stay consistent this time around.  I want to feel good again.  I am getting older but I don't want to be old!  I want to be healthy and energetic for my family and my grandchildren. So wish me luck.  I will keep you posted!

I hold these card classes once a month!  You should join us!! We make 12 cards, 2 each of 6 designs.   This is three of the cards from November's class. I will post the other 3 tomorrow.  Again I found most of thee ideas on Pinterest. Thanks to all who share!

Healthy Shrimp Pasta Salad

This was Dinner Thursday night.  it was really good!  I got the recipe from Favorite Family Recipes.

This Shrimp Pasta Salad is only 200 cal. per cup and 4 WW points!

This bowl is holding 2 cups.  I had plenty of points left for dinner!

I had a bowl of salad and 1 cup of blackberries which are ZERO points!

Shrimp Pasta Salad
1 lemon
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
1/2 cup light sour cream
1 TBSP fresh dill
1/2 tsp salt
4 cups uncooked bow tie (farfalle) pasta
1 pound medium shrimp, shelled, deveined and cooked
1 cucumber, sliced
3 carrots, sliced
1 red pepper, chopped in thick chunks
4 green onions with tops, thinly sliced

Instructions:
For the dresing, zest the whole lemon and then juice it.  Combine the zest, lemon juice, mayonaise, sour cream, fresh dill, and salt.  Set aside.

Cook pasta, shrimp, cucumber, carrots, pepper, and green onions.

Pour dressing over salad ingredients and mix well.

Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, but several hours or overnight is best.

Serving size: 1 cup
Calories: 200
Fat: 2(g)
Carbs. 21 (g)
Protein: 14 (g)
Fiber: 2 (g)

I added some celery and I didn't have green onions so I just chopped up some regular onion.  Easy and yummy!
