Umbre Dyed Ribbon

You have all seen the new color fad...Umbre right?  Colors that blend together from dark to light.  Did you know you can dye our natural Cotton Ribbon?  You can also stamp on it!  The Natural 7/8" ribbon was introduced in our Holiday Catalog, but is still available in the Spring Catalog.  This is so much fun!  I learned this at the Dallas Regional this past week end.  So here is how you do it.....
Start with the length of Cotton Ribbon you need for your project, 3 Markers in different shades, and an Aqua Painter

Color one side of ribbon with the lightest color

Color the center with the next lightest color

Then color the other edge with the darker of the three

Now take your Aqua Painter and blend the colors together.  You will need to get it pretty wet and just blend until you like the way it looks

Now flip it over and wet the back side so the color bleeds through

You can let it air dry or use your Heat Tool.  The Heat tool works great and because the ribbon is cotton it won't melt or get wavy on you.

In this picture I am doing a long length of ribbon in shades of pink.  Because it was much longer than the piece above, I actually sprayed a little water on it and then blended with the Aqua Painter.

I stamped one of our cute little Kraft gift boxes with Versa Mark using the Secret Garden Stamp set

The tag was made using the 2 1/2 inch Circle Punch and the Secret Garden Stamp set and Framelits.  There is a Dahlia attached to the center of the cut out flower.  The Sentiment is from the stamp set Sassy Salutations.

Isn't this a nice little gift box to give someone?
So what do you think about the umbre ribbon?  Pretty cute Huh?  And it is so easy!  You can create any color combination you want with our awesome markers!
